Who hasn't bemoaned the loopholes in our justice system that allow criminals to continue their crimes? Who hasn't wished to administer justice? For five people, an ad in a newspaper gives them the opportunity to plot the murder of another and have it carried out by someone else. All they have to do is murder someone else.

The mastermind behind the idea calls himself "A" and communicates with everyone by mail. Detail who you want murdered, why you want them murdered and be prepared to murder someone.

While some would argue this concept to be well-known, Circle of Assassins sets itself apart from other mysteries by examining the murderers first. Readers are given a glimpse of their lives and learn why they want these particular individuals murdered. The victims are given consideration; then we are treated to how the murderers were carried out. Can they be brought to justice when "A" has detailed how not to get caught? What happens to justice then?

After reading this book it is easy to see Steven Rigolosi is gifted. Suspenseful, intriguing and thought-provoking, Circle of Assassins is anything but dull. I found myself unable to stop reading and then was completely shocked at how things turned out.

There is a statement made by "A" about the book he is publishing: 'A book like mine would have shaken them out of their complacency, shown them what the world is really like.' This description certainly fits Circle of Assassins as Rigolosi captures humanity in all of its ugliness and its unique motivations. Excellent and well-written, this is not a mystery to be easily solved by the reader; all of the clues are there if you're willing to read slowly and puzzle it out as you go.

Rigolosi has ensured the mystery genre will never be the same again!
