Stuck Down is an interesting look at life after death.

Death wasn't so bad. Endless games, new powers and singing flowers. Just a normal day in Nirvanaville. For Kevin Martin, nothing could be better, except maybe a little adventure. Volunteering for a new program to explore delivering messages to family members still on heart had seemed like a perfect idea. At the time...

Somehow, Kevin has become trapped back on Earth, is being followed by a Dweller (former Nirvanaville resident who's forgotten how to return) and is on trial for identity theft and possession of a supposedly stolen motorcycle. Making matters worse, is the prosecuting attorney, who just happens to be Kevin's father. Being stuck down wouldn't be quite so bad if anyone back in Nirvanaville was willing to help but they all state his problem gives him a chance to work through unresolved issues with his father. What's a poor guy to do?

Amusing with a unique take on the afterlife, Stuck Down is a good read. However, it relies too heavily on Kevin's refusal to accept he's stuck on Earth until he fixes his relationship with his father to advance the plot. The last thing I want to read about is a whiny, petulant teenager. The only reasons I didn't put the book down were the other inhabitants of Nirvanaville and the place itself. Rosenbloom really brings Nirvanaville and its inhabitants to life. One is forced to question why the Dwellers would choose to remain on Earth when they could be in Nirvanaville. I hope Ms. Rosenbloom is planning another novel involving Nirvanaville; I would definitely pick it up.
