Prints Charming is a vivid snapshot of life. Using scrapbooking as a frame, this story creatively combines contemporary issues with timeless spiritual insights.
Jane Sandburg’s divorce was both an ending and a beginning. Although she has a new apartment and the possibility of romance with an attractive neighbor, her past is permanently etched in her memories. As she traces the timeline from her wedding to the moment of her husband’s infidelity, images flash through her mind with the accuracy and incisiveness of a photographer’s lens. Yet, just when she is ready to close the door on her failed marriage, her ex-husband begs for forgiveness. Jane has to decide between an unknown future or a former life that once held promise.
The author sensitively highlights the parallels between scrapbooking and life to create a novel that is rich in meaning. Although Jane’s album held memories of a physically perfect wedding day, the turbulent emotional aspects weren’t captured on film. As this character struggles with her memories, she realizes that the past cannot change, but the last page in the scrapbook can. With a creative and lighthearted touch, the author deals with Jane’s mixed feelings about her divorce with a dash of spirit.
The events in this novel revolve around the lives of four women who are friends and scrapbooking enthusiasts. The moments they share working on their albums creates a cozy atmosphere of camaraderie and caring. Their conversations are filled with honesty and humor, as they try to piece the puzzles of their own lives into an arrangement of beauty and truth. Their Christian beliefs and compassion provide motivation and meaning to their lives, and gently invite readers to share their stories, one snapshot at a time.
