In this touching novel by N.L. Sharp, one little girl shows/teaches an elderly woman she is still lovely and has a place in the world.
After looking at a picture of herself as a young woman, Effie realizes she's no longer beautiful and crawls back into her bed, depressed. A few days later, worried about her elderly neighbor, Amanda knocks on Effie's door. She tells Effie she can't stay because she has school but gives her a kitten to keep her company until later. While Effie doesn't like the kitten Amanda refuses to give up, determined to convince Effie she is lovely.
At the end of the story will Effie be able to look into her mirror and believe herself to be lovely and useful?
Truly an outstanding story, Effie's Image is a moving, emotional tale both parents and children will enjoy. Parents will enjoy the lesson it teaches and children will love the gorgeous illustrations, not to mention the fun story. My two boys loved the story, especially since Amanda's actions mirrored some of their own.
Effie's Image is a unforgettable look into the mirror of our feelings and the way our actions touch the lives of others.
