I am so glad this book isn't fattening! I absolutely gobbled it up, while sincerely wishing I could crawl into the pages to meet these wonderful people. This second book in The Potluck Club series continues with the same charm and culinary delights as the first story and leaves readers with a cozy feeling of contentment.
Six women meet every month in their Potluck Club, sharing fabulous recipes as well as personal predicaments. They are bonded by their sisterhood in Christ, and readily offer each other love, prayers and much-needed hugs. Each chapter is written by one of these women, thereby providing a fabulous first person perspective from every available angle. Yet, all of the pages are seamlessly tied together in a single story. The recipes that are sprinkled throughout are an added bonus, offering another luscious layer to this already great novel.
The authors give new meaning to the phrase "the way to the heart is through the stomach". While building their fiction around a food theme, they solidly connect to readers on an emotional level, as these women and their problems become real and riveting. The camaraderie and Christian fellowship will make every woman hunger for that type of relationship, tapping into a universal need for fulfillment. And taking this idea of filling to the physical level, the recipes are not only tempting, but appear easy to make.
All of this is gently wrapped up with sensitive, spiritual insights and wisdom. As the women of the Potluck Club savor the sweet and the not-so-sweet moments on life's menu, everyone's thoughts are directed to God and the wonderful masterpieces He sets on our plates everyday.
