Waking up three hundred and forty-two years in the future could've been worse for Gillaine Davré. Then she finds out that it's far worse than she thought as she discovers the race of people she was helping before the time rift have made her into a Goddess. Lady Kiasidira. Kiasidira in her home tongue was an honorific, like Captain. She only hopes people don't get a hint of her true heritage as she's on Cirrus One, a port call for the Khalar on their way out of that area.

Admiral Rynan "Make it right" Mackarian is intrigued by Gilliane Davré. He believes her to be a smuggler coming out of the misted area where most smugglers originate from. Gillian can't tell Rynan that her ship, Simon, and her telepathic abilities are helping her adjust to thie time frame.

As Gillie tries to get some more information on what was passed, the station comes under attack by the Fav'lhir, old enemy of the people she was helping, the Khalar. The attack ends abruptly. What comes out was in the "Sacrifice" was that the Lady Kiasidira destroyed not only the Fav'lhirian ships but also their mageline. Since then, the Fav were able to build ships but not their mageline. However, Rynan's crew matches the energy signature of the attack on three hundred and fifty year old ships of the Fav'lhir.

What is a Kiasidira? To the Raheiran, she's more than just a Sorceress, but one marked by the Gods. One called for a higher purpose than other Raheiran. The crystals, the life giving crystals aren't just a myth, but only react to those of Raheiran birth. Gillie knows she can't let anyone know who she really is, but it's a close call when Simon, her ship can't awaken her when she helps to heal him.

When a piece of Simon's outer hull is found, a frenzy has begun declaring Cirrus One as the Sacred Communion spot by the Magefather Rigo. Gillie is outraged but can't do anything yet. Her only hope is to get that piece before things become worse for the station. Mack gives in to Rigo and allows uncontrolled docking access for people to get to the Shrine. Gillie is dealing with Mack asking her to marry him, the fact that Rigo is Fav with witch blood within him, and that perhaps her coming to this point in time wasn't just happenstance.

As time dwindles away and tensions heat up, Gillie ends up revealing to Mack she's Raheiran. Though she doesn't tell him who she really is, she discovers that his name is very close to the name of the first mage soul who loved the first Kiasidira for Khalar. They try to overcome this one obstacle of her being Raheiran and Rigo being a fake Raheiran. Will they manage to find out the truth behind what's going on before the special ceremonies due on Cirrus One? Will Gillie reveal who she is in truth?

This is one of my favorite science fiction romance stories. Since the first time I read it, I was entranced. Megan Sybil Baker, who also writes under the name of Linnea Sinclair, is truly a mistress of her craft. Just like CJ Cherryh, this lady has created a world and a universe you can lose yourself in and do so wonderfully. The blend of magick, science fiction, and romance is sure to make this book one for the keeper shelf. I highly recommend you grab hold of this book as quickly as you can.
