Did you know that there are 775,632 words in the Authorized King James Version of the Bible, yet someone creatively summarized it in only 50 words? Would you like to know how to write John 3:16 or the Lord's Prayer in several different languages? Do you enjoy a good laugh while you're learning interesting bits of trivia? If you answered "yes" to these questions, Summon's Christian Miscellany is the book for you!
There is something for everyone on every page. The author is an avid collector of facts and curiosities, making this book seem like a treasure box of trivia! Information from various areas, such as music, history and science will both fascinate as well as educate readers. There are words of wisdom from famous people, as well as last words from other notables. Popular Bible sayings are referenced, as well as some important Christian doctrines.
Yet, the author also wanted to show a lighter side of his faith, and has included some hilarious anecdotes and little known facts. A list of unusual patron saints and occupational hymns will give readers a chuckle, while also making a point. Snippets from actual church bulletins and signs are good for a smile, while Noah's excuses for not building the ark on time will strike the funny bone of familiarity.
This book is a perfect balance between serious and silly. It's informative, inspirational, and highly entertaining. It would make a great resource for anyone who is looking for interesting bits of trivia to add to a sermon or a Sunday school lesson. Or, it could just offer the reader hours of enjoyment!
