Would you like to spend a few hours with swashbuckling pirates? Do you like romance mixed with adventure and danger? How about standing on the rolling deck of a ship as a blazing gun battle ensues? If this sounds appealing, then be sure to book passage on The Reliance. MaryLu Tyndall gives readers a taste of all that and more in this exciting novel.

When Edmund Merrick’s beloved wife, Charlisse, is apparently killed, he seeks solace in the sea, only to find himself drowning in the darkness of sin. After hooking up with a pirate of the worst kind, Edmund’s faith falters until a series of unbelievable events opens his eyes and heart to the truth.

Romance and rowdiness are tied together with a ribbon of destiny. The sweetly sensual love between Edmund and Charlisse charts the course for this novel, as their enforced separation causes an intriguing amount of tension and anguish. As they both battle against the obstacles that threaten to destroy them, their Christian faith is put to the test. Amidst doubts, anger and despair, this couple learns a lot more about love, trust and faithfulness.

The spiritual aspect of this story is smoothly incorporated into the action, providing genuine motivation for the characters. Misunderstandings and mistakes highlight the need for truth, while their desperate situations call for deliverance. Greedy pirates, a damsel in distress and even a naughty monkey round out a cast of characters who play their parts to perfection.

The action is explosive, the emotional appeal is captivating, but best of all is the fact that this is only the second book in the series. Readers, be sure to stay on deck for the next adventure. I know I will!
