Vampires have always been thought of as blood sucking killers, but are they really? Legends of vampires come from many different sources; one says that they are descended from a fallen angel, others, evil incarnate...one or the other could be right, but then again, they could both be wrong.

Devastated by having to leave her home because her husband left her and sold their home, Maggie Williams lived day to day just trying to get by. Eugene had treated her awfully since the birth of their daughter, putting her down in public as well as in private, coming home smelling of other women's perfume, leaving her from time to time, and she always took him back. Growing up without parents and going from foster home to foster home made her crave a stable home and family...even if it wasn't ideal. The only joy in Maggie's life was her two children. Now she sits in a tiny efficiency apartment looking for work just to keep a roof over her head and a bit of food in the place.

1483 Florence, Italy. He was high on life, GianMarco Grimaldi had just received a commission to do a painting of Lorenzo di Medici, he had a beautiful wife and two-week old son waiting for him at home, his life was perfect...until he came home that fateful day and found his wife dead in their bed-her heart ripped out of her chest, and their tiny baby dismembered. His life no longer had meaning, but first the rogue vampires responsible for his family's deaths had to pay. After centuries of taking care of his sexual needs with a cold heart, seeing Maggie at the receptionist's desk in his office threw him. Something about her drew him against his will. Knowing that he could fall for her, he attacks her verbally to scare her away, he didn't want his nice, safe, unfeeling world rocked.

Working for G and T Associates was a blessing; an interesting job that she was learning quickly, good pay and a wonderful boss in Oliver Townsend. The meeting between her and her other boss, Mr. Grimaldi...didn't go well. Maggie walked out after he insulted her horribly, she didn't have to take that, not any more. GianMarco felt badly that he had hurt Maggie, but he had to protect himself, he couldn't feel anything for her, he couldn't take the chance of falling in love with her only to lose her like Bianca. Oliver guilted him into going to apologize, he knew to do that was a mistake...but he goes anyway.

Blood Brothers: GianMarco's Muse has a new twist on the usual vampires, these are alive and very close to human with extra gifts. I was pulled into this adventure immediately and was engrossed throughout this fantastic story. GianMarco and Maggie have had a lot of pain in their lives; yet do eventually try for happiness again. The love and passion between this couple is scorching and beautiful. The Grimaldi's are a close family that is tied not only with loyalty but also with love. Eve Vaughn is a wonderfully talented writer who brings her characters and her story to life. I highly recommend reading Blood Brothers: GianMarco's Muse, I loved every minute of it. That ending...I really need the next in the series, nice one Eve.

Shayla was turning thirty and decided that this year she would do whatever was needed to win Ben's love. Even if she had to resort to a love potion. Unfortunately the potion backfired in a most unexpected way. Ben isn't at all that what she dreamed he'd be. And all the other men in town want her. All of them, oh...and a few dogs and lesbians too.

So when Ben's attentions get out of hand she does the only thing she can. She takes his brother Brad up on his offer to spend the week with him at his cabin until the potion wears off. She gets a lot more then she bargained for and she never wants it to end.

Eve Vaughn did a fabulous job with Love Potion #69. I laughed till my sides hurt to be instantly sobered by the passion she weaved into her characters. Her portrayal of Ben left me feeling a touch sorry for Shayla, but glad she learnt her lesson in the end. But when she described Brad, well, I couldn't help thinking Shayla deserved to learn that lesson the hard way. I would definitely recommend this book.
