Tomorrow would be her eighteenth birthday and to Esmeralda's horror, she was to marry Prince Arnulf of Scotia. Ever since she saw her maid taken by a man in the garden, Esmeralda had feared marriage, feared a man touching her and having sex with her. But her parents stood firm, no matter how much she pleaded, she would wed the Prince Arnulf. Irritated and upset, Esmeralda rides into the Royal Park, alone.

She is taken prisoner from a band of outlaws and tied to a tree. One man in particular frightens her the most; the one who boasts he will take her then and there and then allow the rest of them to enjoy what she has to offer. It looks like her fate is sealed… suddenly out of nowhere a knight dressed in black appears and rescues her. Esmeralda is so grateful she promises to give the knight what ever he desires. All he asks is to watch her pleasure herself. Can she fulfill her promise?

What of her impending marriage to the aging Prince Arnulf? Will this spoiled princess be forced into a loveless marriage or will her Black Knight rescue her once again?

A deliciously engaging tale, A Mysterious Knight is my favorite type of erotic romance. The tale isn't bogged down with too many outside details or characters; its focus remains on Esmeralda and her plight, and, of course, erotic moments between the heroine and the hero. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Verkerk's work.
