On his way home for the coveted Pogobo Championships, Olik, a Captain of the Partis guard, comes upon a terrifying sight. A Kundarian patrol was wiped out before his eyes by a creature the likes of which he'd never seen. As the Kundars are enemies of the Attarians, Olik didn't think twice about their death. But the ease with which the creature slaughtered them made him pause for thought.

Schlemba of the Arrannaks arrives at the court of the Attarians begging for their help in finding seven stolen skulls. The skulls he tells them were stolen by a fellow Arrannak and are the only thing that can save them from comet headed toward the planet.

After hearing this tale of impending doom and disaster the King orders an expedition of seven hundred warriors led by Olik. His only two children agree to join the expedition to track down Olbo and retrieve the skulls before it is too late.

The Crystal Skulls by Jan Visser is an intriguing Fantasy. It starts a little slowly, but quickly picks up pace towards the end of the story. The author leaves quite a bit of unanswered questions throughout the novel leaving one to hope that he has a sequel in mind to wrap up some loose ends.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys experiences new land, fantastic creatures and just getting lost in the story.
