Laura Jensen Walker tackles the subject of breast cancer with sensitivity and a healthy dash of sassiness. Her trademark wit and vivid characterizations skillfully slices through the fear to bring forth a vibrant faith.

Natalie Moore, a young, single woman, accidentally finds a lump in her breast. A mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy, radically rocked her world. However, amidst the tears and the terror, she learns that surgery actually gave her more than it took away.

This novel is a rich exploration of all the emotional aspects associated with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Although the novel centers on Natalie, the entire cast of characters contributes to the overall atmosphere hovering around the reality of this disease. From loving parents to a shallow boyfriend, the entire gamut of feelings is expressed, giving this story a powerful and poignant feel.

The author's wit is welcome within these pages, as the laughs connect the readers to Natalie, while also diffusing the tension. Honesty and humility walk shoulder to shoulder, offering a tender story that is tempered with hope. For such a serious subject, there is a wonderful contrast of optimism, gently budding out of a faith in God and a desire to see His hand in the midst of this trial. As Natalie's body changes during the course of her treatment, a blessed reconstruction occurs, leaving her different yet undiminished.

Only Laura Jensen Walker could have written this remarkable novel because she knows and understands. Allow these pages to take you to a place where faith replaces fear and life is measured by laughter and love.

Dreaming in Technicolor caused this reviewer to lose some sleep! Laura Jensen Walker's writing style is more addictive than potato chips or chocolate! The character of Phoebe Grant blows through these pages with a freshness and zeal that will make readers follow her anywhere. In this book, she travels to Merrie Olde England in an attempt to make Alex her leading man. What she finds is a completely different plot that causes her to rewrite the ending to her fairy tale adventure.

The character of Phoebe was created with a healthy dose of humor and honesty. She is an expert in anything cinematic, and the author has creatively used movie references to bring a contemporary feel to the story. Readers will also delight in knowing Phoebe's thoughts on just about everything, from Alex to emus. Basically, Phoebe is a delightful woman who wants to be loved by a wonderful man and live happily ever after. Alex seems to be that man, but she discovers that she first needs to change the focus on her lens, so she can get the whole picture in her viewfinder.

That's the essential part of this book. Phoebe is a Christian and therefore wants to live her life according to God's plan. After her thoughts dash madly around in her head, and her heart beats to the tune of the wedding march, she finally settles down to listen to the still small voice inside herself. And that's when Phoebe finds out that life is more unpredictable than a movie, but a lot more rewarding.

Everything about this book is perfect! The dialogue is sassy and smart, and the characters could literally pop off the pages. The author showed true talent in blending contemporary issues with the timelessness of Christianity to create a story with spirit!
