As a home school mom, I have read a lot of books explaining the Constitution, but none have been as interesting or understandable as this one! There are two very important things that shine forth in these pages. The first is the author knows his stuff. It's abundantly clear that he has researched the inner workings of American government and has come to some definite conclusions.
Secondly, the author is excited about this subject and that makes all the difference in the world. Because he truly cares about the state of modern governmental practices, the reader will be drawn into this book, not as a mere bystander, but as someone whose freedoms are being abused and corrupted. No one can read this book without gaining information and forming an opinion.
Besides a thorough look at the Constitution, whereby the actual words are examined, the author also carefully explains the reasoning behind this document. The original intent of our forefathers is contrasted with the current comprehension and carrying out of the provisions set forth. Readers will gain a new appreciation for this mighty manuscript and will also be able to refute many of the modern arguments that seek to undermine the power of the patriots' words.
Although the author has a firm grasp on complex legal issues, his writes with a simplicity and sincerity that is refreshing. He is not out to impress readers with his knowledge; rather he is seeking to impart that knowledge to others. As a result, the book flows with a liveliness that causes his words to be understood and remembered. There is also a nice touch of humor within these pages.
This book should be read by anyone who has a television or who reads the newspapers. The media appears guilty of circulating misinformation about the principles of American government. Reading this book will help put the power of our Founding Fathers' words back into the hands of the people.
