Jail Bertie and the Peanut Ladies is just plain nutty! Actually, it's more of a mixed bag of nuts, as Roberta "Bertie Byrd" Fortney interacts with the other residents of Sweet Meadow, Georgia. This sleepy community sure wakes up when Bertie is around; she's always getting into the middle of the biggest problems or else she's causing them.

It all starts with a dangerous intersection. When Bertie attempts to cut down the tree that is blocking everyone's vision, she's taken to jail along with her infant daughter. Undaunted, she tries petitioning the city council to install a traffic light at the corner. At the meeting, one of the board members dies before he could vote, leaving Bertie without a traffic light and with a nomination to fill his vacant seat. Amidst campaigning, running her towing company, planning a wedding and taking care of her family, this Southern gal has so many plates in the air it's no wonder a few fall down on her head now and then. But when the dust settles, Bertie finds herself in the wonderful atmosphere of family, friends and neighbors that love her no matter what!

The cast of characters and the small town feel of the story will have readers kicking off their shoes and getting comfortable. These pages jiggle with a hearty helping of humor, as Bertie goes from one predicament to the next. The residents of this town are priceless, especially a pair of octogenarians who grab all the gusto they can get. Quips and quirky characters combine for some truly funny moments, which makes this novel a delight.
