A successful small animal veterinarian, Lauren Townsend had a special gift. She had the ability to sense an animal's discomfort, almost pinpointing the exact cause of their problem. In addition to this special gift, she also had another, although calling it a gift might be a stretch. This other ability placed her in a killer's mind, watching as he/she killed another, forcing her to live the scene as if she were the one committing the murder.
Her latest vision is of a blonde woman in Western gear being strangled by man. Her only clues to the whereabouts of the murder were the mountains in the distance and a matchbook bearing the logo of Foothills Guest Ranch. Lauren looks the logo up online and learns the Foothills Ranch is in Alberta. Immediately she books an open-ended stay and heads out to the Foothills Ranch to prevent a murder. She wasn't sure what she'd find at the ranch, but she certainly didn't expect to find love.
Cal Taggart had one chance to save his ranch. A few natural disasters had left his ranch in dire straights and the only way to save his beloved ranch was to turn it into a guest ranch. He really hated running a guest ranch, but if it would save his dream, then it was worth it. As the new arrivals stepped out of the bus, his instant attraction to Lauren Townsend was a complete surprise. Making things a bit harder is the reappearance of his ex-wife, Marlena. How is supposed to spend time with Lauren when Marlena is determined to make his life miserable?
Lauren only wants to find the woman and the would-be killer, but is unable to fight the attraction between her and Cal. The moment she sets eyes on Marlena she realizes she's the victim, but who is trying to kill her and why? Will her infatuation with Cal get in the way of her mission? How will he act if she tells him the truth of her visit? And is there a chance when all is said and done, she and Cal could make a life together?
A newcomer to the romance scene, Norah Wilson makes her debut with Lauren's Eyes. Lauren's Eyes is a vibrant, moving tale with an unusual paranormal twist, suspense, danger and great emotion. The relationship between Lauren and Cal is simply breathtaking; the emotional and sexual attraction between them absolutely palpable. The reader falls into their story, their lives and is unable (and doesn't wish) to get free. It's also very evident from the beginning whatever is between Lauren and Cal goes much deeper than just sex, even if they aren't aware of that. Nowhere is this more evident than when Lauren is able to divine Cal's emotions at certain time, easily reacting and pushing in just the right way so he's able to work through it instead of keeping it locked away.
Norah Wilson is a superb author and definitely one to keep your eyes on. I highly recommend this spectacular debut, Lauren's Eyes.
