In ancient times, the Seven roamed the earth, giving their aid freely to men. The Priests of Men feared the power of the Seven and contrived to destroy them. They cast a spell and the Seven were unable to stop it. To save themselves, they also cast a spell allowing their spirits to freely roam the earth until the day they were reincarnated. To watch and protect their reincarnated spirits, seven guardians were also created. These spirits would be bound to an animal form by day, and human by night. Furious that the Seven had escaped their spell, the priest also created spirit warriors, bound to human form by day and beast by night, to search and destroy both the reincarnated Seven and their guardians.
Thus begins the first book in Annie Windsor's newest series, Redevence. Ezri Danbala had always lived on the edge. The daughter of a colored Creole woman and an unconventional white slave owner, her childhood was a fairytale. She was taught by the finest tutors, learning the ways and beliefs of both parents. After their death, she became Delmont's woman and was physically abused for several years.
While digging a grave for Delmont (she had told him he would only hit her one more time), she sees two shadowy figures emerge. Pregnant, alone except for a blind dog, and in labor (her baby would decide now was a good time), what is she to do?
Chant had been watching over Ezri for many years now. She was of the Redevence, a reincarnated member of the Seven. He wouldn't let his evil counterpoint, Alain harm her, but could he protect her from himself?
What can you say about a quickie other than, "give me more!" Annie Windsor's latest release packs a lot of story into only fifty pages, not to mention a new world with vibrant characters, unbelievably hot sex, and intriguing continuous storyline. I can only hope the rest of the series will be released soon as I really wish to meet the other Redevence members. Until then I will consent myself to rereading this short, but wonderful, keeper.

The second novel in the Arda series, The Sailkeeper's Bride is a brilliant follow-up to its predecessor The Sailmaster's Woman.
Georgia Steele loved her new home on Arda. Originally from Earth, Georgia was brought to Arda by her cousin Elisa Tul'Mar, wife of Ki Tul'Mar, the Sailmaster. Her new home was beautiful, their views on sex were eye-opening, the men were gorgeous and she was completely happy. Well, almost completely happy. If only Fari Tul'Mar, Ki's younger brother, wasn't always about trying to claim her as his shanna, soulmate, life would be perfect.
Fari knew from the moment he saw Georgia step from the crashed speeder she was his shanna. Everything within him proclaimed that fact. Convincing Georgia of that fact was proving difficult, especially since he was under the influence of the mating fever. Great strength of will and a potion from the priest Akad kept him from claiming her as his body demanded. To add to his sexual problems, the Outlanders had been leaving messages again.
Always proclaiming Arda's doom, the Outlanders believed they were the chosen people, connected to the life. Normally, they lived on the outskirts, keeping to themselves. So why had they returned now, when Ki was out fighting OrTans?
Georgia couldn't deny she was attracted to Fari. What woman wouldn't be? The Sailkeeper of Arda was god. Yet something about Fari frightened her, reminded her a past incident. When she learns he's been taking a potion to control his mating fever, she agrees to have sex with him, but only by her rules. All too easily, she falls in love; the only thing holding her back is pride and old fears. Can she put aside her fear and pride and find a love to last a thousand lifetimes before the Outlanders attack?
A completely amazing read, The Sailkeeper's Bride is superb, topping its magnificent predecessor. Georgia and Fari are a wonderful couple, complementing each other in many ways, not to mention steaming up the pages. Both suffer from past hurts and have learned to hide their true feelings from everyone, even those closest to them. Watching their emotional journey was even more exciting than reading their sensual escapades. Definitely one for the keeper shelf.
