Twenty years ago, Lygnel had made a decision, which cost her child and the only man she ever loved. She sent David Krell on a mission to take her daughter away from her husband, the Dark Prince, hoping to save her only child from the cursed life she had been forced to live. Her decision had cost her much, but deep in her heart she knew it was the right decision.
Twenty years had passed and the castle at Camelford had seen its share of rulers, most of who threw Lygnel in the dungeon on a whim. This time she had earned the punishment though. She shouldn't have cursed the swords master, but she had grown tired of his leering. Alone in the dark, she cried out, hoping the Goddess would hear her plea and grant her redemption.
David Krell had completed his mission and spent the next twenty years watching over Queen Lygnel's daughter. Now, the Goddess and her servant Myrddin had a new task for him: rescue the only woman he had truly loved and save Arthur's heir from an invading army. Truth be told, David was ecstatic. She was alive and he was going to claim her and never let her leave his side.
The second installment in her Legacy of Prator series, Redemption is without a doubt the best novel Annie Windsor has written. Her heroine isn't a shy, blushing virgin, but a grown woman who's seen and experienced the world. She aches for redemption, a chance to return to the magic she grew up with, yet even her desire for redemption pales in comparison to her love for David. David is truly a hero to die for; he's kind and considerate and deeply in love. So in love, he's willing to die to protect Lygnel even when it becomes obvious she doesn't need his help. Instead of being threatened by Lygnel's powers, he respects her ability and her desire to fend for herself at times.
I have read and reread all of Ms. Windsor's works many times, but none touched my heart as Redemption. It was a much more emotional story, but no less erotic or sensual. I look forward to the next book in The Legacy of Prator series, but Redemption will always be my favorite. It is going straight on my keeper shelf where I know it will see plenty of wear. Don't miss!

A fool's mission, a fool's oath. Yet Davyd Krell would die protecting Queen Lygnel's daughter, even if the ancients barred his path. His only regret was leaving the woman he had served and loved completely to the mercy of her husband, the Dark Prince Mordred.
It had been twenty years since Davyd Krell had dared cross the Dark Prince and take his newborn babe to safety. The tiny babe had grown into a beautiful young woman, unaware of the truth. Most believed her to be a changeling, but none would dare say it to her face for King Roland fervently believed her to be his daughter and his word was law. In Prator, the remnants of Arthur's army had begun life again, holding to the ideals of Camelot. And here was where Arthur's heir resided.
Ysbet, with her father's permission, had studied the ancient scrolls and knew more of the ancient ways than even most druids. She knew she was different, had always been different. Deep in her heart, she hoped Roland and his wife weren't her true parents, why she wished it she didn't know. Because of the rumors of her parentage, she was alone and bore the loneliness with grace. The one thing she truly wanted was beyond her reach. Eduard, captain of her father's guard had held her heart from the moment she became aware of womanly desires. As his sovereign, he was beyond her reach, no matter how much she might wish otherwise.
She'd grown into a beautiful woman. A woman he lusted after daily. Try as he might Eduard couldn't rein his lustful thoughts; he wanted Ysbet and no other woman would ever satisfy him. Then he learns of King Roland's plans. An offer of marriage from the Saxon lord who helped destroy Camelot; in return peace would forever be within Prator's grasp. He didn't know how, but Eduard wouldn't allow Ysbet to join herself with the Saxon filth. He would die to keep her from such an unwelcome task.
While out walking, Ysbet find Eduard relaxing after a bath in the stream. Drawn by the sight of his sculpted, naked body, she offers him release. Honorable, Eduard returns the favor without taking her maidenhead. It is only when she runs moments later to avoid observance, does Ysbet's journey toward truth begin.
From meeting with three of the ancients of Avalon: Myrddin, Morgain and Nimue to being marked with the symbols of the Goddess, Ysbet is sent on a quest to reclaim that which was lost and bring it back to Avalon. Her only companion is Eduard, who with the blessing of Morgain has handfasted with her. They will live, love and die together, no matter what lies ahead.
A brilliant beginning to what promises to be an unforgettable series, Cursed picks up where the Arthurian legends left off. Ms. Windsor brings dignity, honor, love, and magic to a favored tale. Her characters are spellbinding, the reader knows, understands, and deeply cares for them. We long to see the conclusion, to know the truth of Ysbet's birth and reawakening of Avalon. Yet, we also greatly desire to see Ysbet and Eduard have a happy ending, together, reveling in their love.
The Legacy of Prator: Cursed is going straight to my keeper shelf and I know it is destined for many rereads as I await each addition to the series.
