Have you ever had a hug that was so powerful it literally took your breath away? This book is like that. The author dispenses some hard-hitting advice, yet wraps it up in a genuine caress of concern.

Keith G. Wright has some vivid memories of his own teenage years, which has helped him realize the importance of this crucial time period. Since he fully understands and appreciates the potential impact teenage decisions have on a young person's adult life, he has developed a strategy for maximizing these moments. Throughout the book, he lists No Joke Teen Truths, followed by a clear explanation and exhortation of each principle. These truths are numbered and placed in darker print, making them eye-catching as well as accessible.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing is the author's direct approach. He writes with an enthusiasm that is born out of a compassionate heart. It's obvious he desires the best for today's teenagers, and his earnest appeal causes the pages to tremble with some persuasive thoughts. He lays out a plan for young people and backs up his ideas with logic and personal experience. The result is both dynamic and encouraging.

Although the author comes down hard on popular media and the mania it inspires, he doesn't just destroy the current culture; instead, he replaces it with a finely tuned and purposeful way of living. This gives teens an escape route into a more exciting life, and one that will reap rewarding benefits. Showing respect to parents, reading every day, and doing well in school are all admonitions that are stressed in this book. Yet, even though this advice has been dispensed throughout the years, the author's personal life, coupled with his remarkable honesty gives these points an unusual amount of power.
