I buy this book every year and I keep my old issues for reference. Why? Even with the complete yearly guide to Pagan holidays, incense, colour correspondences, and the Moon's sign and phases, the articles are really what keep me coming back. The articles dealing with various Pagan paths helps me to realize just how magical the world truly is. Learning about other pagan cultures and sometimes taking a light-hearted view of magick and our beliefs, helps us to grow as Pagans. We might not all follow the same path, but by taking the time to learn about other aspects, even some new rituals we'd not thought of, it helps us to bond together beyond the superficial, to accepting each other as walking beside each other, not against each other.

Every article gives me something new to consider as well as some things I hadn't thought upon. If you've not picked up this Magical Almanac, give it a try. You might find yourself scouring the bookstores before the end of the year, hoping the next year's book has come in already. This book is one of my family's staples to buy every year and we turn to it daily to acknowledge various holidays as well as to give honour to other cultures besides our own path.

This is a yearly almanac that comes out, featuring over twenty-five nationally recognized herbalists. It's truly an inspiration for anyone who has either become interested in herbalism or is deep within the herbalist community. From the history of herbs, their properties, to how to cultivate them, this book has many useful articles. One of my favourite is the one dealing with how to create your own skin care products. Having some great basic recipes to create my own lotions, bath salts, and even herbal wraps, is something special. To get the ingredients back to the basics without many additives is a great way of getting back to nature without thinking you have to not take care of yourself. There's recipes dealing with various spices and more. In fact, I learned about Rooibos tea, a tea that the plant is found in a specific South African township, but is naturally sweeter than many other teas and have many health benefits.

I get the Magical Almanac from Llewellyn yearly, but I am adding this almanac to the list. It's truly a great reference beyond this year and more importantly, it provides information for the beginner to the intermediate. Truly a unique book, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to take a step to get back to nature and learn more about the plants that help us in our daily lives.
