The Emperor is a male energy card, Yang in the Chinese manner. He leads, though he might in fact lead behind the scenes. He guides, he's warmth, he's a father spirit and more. When his card shows up in a reading one must ask themselves about their inner guide as well as the outer. For him, he is always there.

Michaila Kublewski, aka Mike, was at a spa treating herself to some luxury time, though Matilda, her inner self, scolded her on her lack of a love life. She worked as a textbook editor and it afforded her some luxuries and to indulge in her more "male" moments like motorcycles, etc. She gives into one of her more sensual fantasies and as she releases, the world goes dark.

Mike finds herself in a middle of a pentagram, the result of a spell gone wrong. Her savior in that moment is a man that any woman would find delectable and would have a hard time resisting. Jubal Fengarven is a man like none other and lives at the Imperial Palace of Gotrana. As Mike finds out that magicusers in that land must never have sex with someone of the opposite sex in their land, they often find solace with elementals or demons of other realms. Mike was accidentally conjured by a young sorcerer who messed up the spell. As he goes to deal with the young apprentices, Mike tries to put together what happened to her.

This is the man of her dreams that have haunted her for two years and she wants him. The desire is obvious between them. She is an impetuous sort and her actions compromised her going home. He needs time to research on how to get her back to her world. Yet, the desire and need rises between them. She must pretend to be a lust demon under his absolute control and obey him without order or risk death. Can Mike let Jubal do what needs to be done to return her home? Can Jubal just let her go when everything in him wants her to stay? When she learns of the plague and that her knowledge of science, something that's banned, can help, can Mike take the risk to help Jubal's world?

Dymitia has created a sensual feast of magick, desire, and a story that truly creates a movie of such a short, yet fulfilling book. The black moment in this story about had me wanting to scream, yet it was perfect for what had to be. The ending is something you must read for yourself. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is not just a tale of skewed magick, but that of love, science and magick working in concert together to bring happiness to those who seek it.
